Does Europe really wants to be a museum of the past 1

Young researchers from Southern Europe are not accepting any more to be the best educated generation ever with no opportunities. Why are the governments not investing in the future, in supporting the bright youth and the innovative knowledge based society?

This is a good question. Has any society ever prospered by cutting down on the investment in the future. By not giving the young people an opportunity to develop the society and its knowledge further?

The answer is: NO!

And the young generation of researchers in Southern Europe want their voices to be heard. Austerity is not a solution to the crisis, it is a measure which will deepen and prolong it. Europe will lose if we do not give the young generation an opportunity to show what the are capable of doing.

You are absolutely right Jens. All the ones that have been in some way involved in R&D know that this is the real future of a society. We, in the Southern Europe, Spain in my case, have the best educated youngster ever had and they are living the country to other states that are giving them much better opportunities. This is not a problem for EU as many of them are moving to other EU countries but is a problem to the own country that has invested huge amount of money that will have no return.

I am trying to promote in Spain, in Barcelona, a private capital (private investors) fund to promote that those youngsters should be able to start up their own business to develop their magnificient ideas into companies. It is a hard work as not only the Spanish Government is not sensitive to that situation, the private investors have the same level of sensitiveness and prefer to invest their money in US or Germany in the same risky business than in Spain.

    What a pitty.
